Conference on the Ata Forecasting Approach in Time Series Analysis Held

With the contributions of the Department of Statistics of our Faculty of Science, a conference entitled “Ata’s Story: A New Approach in Time Series” was held on Thursday, 29 January 2026, at Fırat University Prof. Dr. Bahaddin Öğel Conference Hall.

During the conference, the theoretical foundations, application areas, and performance analysis of the Ata Forecasting approach, an internationally award-winning forecasting method recognized with the M6 Forecasting Competition Award, were discussed. Prof. Dr. Güçkan Yapar and Dr. Hanife Taylan Selamlar from the Department of Statistics at Dokuz Eylül University participated in the conference as speakers.

A certificate of appreciation was presented to Prof. Dr. Güçkan Yapar by the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Hasan Bulut. Dr. Hanife Taylan Selamlar was presented with a certificate of appreciation by the Head of the Department of Statistics, Prof. Dr. Sinan Çalık.

The conference attracted strong interest from academics and graduate students.

Offering a rich platform for sharing knowledge for researchers and data science enthusiasts interested in time series analysis and forecasting methods, the event concluded with Prof. Dr. Hasan Bulut, Dean of our Faculty, expressing his thanks to all those who contributed to the organization of the conference.
