As part of the events commemorating the March 18 Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs’ Day, a conference titled “Çanakkale Through Poetry” was held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the Mustafa Temizer Conference Hall of Fırat University. The event was organized in cooperation with the Atatürk Principles and History of Reforms Research and Application Center of Fırat University and the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The conference was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut DOĞRU, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. M. Taner ŞENGÜN, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Hasan BULUT, Dean of the Faculty of Technology Prof. Dr. Erkan TANYILDIZI, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries Prof. Dr. Kenan KÖPRÜCÜ, and Director of the School of Foreign Languages Prof. Dr. Seda ARIKAN, as well as academic staff, students, and guests.
The program began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem. During the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Birol İPEK, a faculty member of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, delivered a conference titled “Çanakkale Through Poetry.” The historical significance of the Çanakkale Victory and its reflections in literature were discussed within the scope of the program.
At the end of the program, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut DOĞRU presented a certificate of appreciation to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Birol İPEK.
