The Faculty of Science started education in the 1975-1976 academic year with the admission of students to the Department of Mathematics. It was envisaged to open the Department of Chemistry as Chemical Engineering and the Department of Biology as two chairs, Botany and Zoology. The Departments of Physics Engineering and Geological Engineering were opened in the 1977-1978 academic year. In the 2005-2006 academic year, the Department of Statistics started teaching with 40 students.
Pursuant to the Council of Ministers Decision No. 2010/175, which entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette dated March 11, 2010 and numbered 27518, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences within our University was closed and the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences were established instead.
